BRIAN MACDONALD Senior Business Advisor, Business Advisory Services, Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure / Ministry of Research and Innovation

Brian MacDonald joined the Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure as a Senior Business Advisor in January 2008 following a career that spanned both finance and entrepreneurship. Mr. MacDonald spent almost 20 years with the Toronto-Dominion Bank, Banque Nationale de Paris, and ABN Amro Bank as a commercial and corporate lender during which he worked in various cities. 

In 1991 he was asked to join Confederation Life where he worked as VP Investments.  In 1994 Mr. MacDonald co-founded Lava Systems Inc. and took it public on the TSX in 1995 and assisted in the sale of the company to OpenText Corporation in 1998.  In 1999, Mr. MacDonald formed Springboard Technology Inc. and took the company public in the US in 2000.  In late 2004 Mr. MacDonald retired from the company.  From 2005 until 2008, Mr. MacDonald was an angel investor and concentrated on several investments in Toronto.
