SUDESHNA DUTTA Education Officer, Ministry of Education

Sudeshna began her career as a science and math teacher in the Toronto District School Board. She held various positions of leadership in the board in the years of Ontario secondary school reform.

While obtaining her Masters of Education at OISE/UT, she was part of a research team funded by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant that focused on large scale school reform as it was being implemented in Ontario's secondary schools. In 2005, Sudeshna moved to the York Region District School Board, where she was a secondary school Vice Principal for five years.

Currently, Sudeshna is an Education Officer with the Student Success Policy Branch. She is a co-lead of the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, responsible for its budget, design, delivery and policy development.  In the 2014-15 school year, the SHSM had 42,000 students in over 1,680 programs in 19 sectors, in over 670 schools in every school board in the province. Sudeshna is also completing her Doctor of Education at OISE/UT and is focusing on educational policy and entrepreneurship education in her academic work.
