DR. JAMES DORAN - Chief Executive Officer, Innovation Guelph

Dr. James (Jamie) Doran is the Chief Executive Officer, and Director of Client Services for Innovation Guelph. Since joining Innovation Guelph in January of 2012, Jamie has helped IG grow into Guelph’s focal point for innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit.

Jamie has worked in the innovation space for fifteen years, first as a researcher, then as a technology entrepreneur, and now as a community leader focused on building globally competitive businesses. He is the Chair of the Guelph Innovation Network; a member of the Program Advisory Council for Conestoga College’s Biotechnology Program, and the Small Business Venture Program; as well as a member on the advisory councils for the Conestoga Centre for Entrepreneurship (C4E); Guelph’s Elevator Project; U of G’s Commercialization Fellowship; and Connect Guelph-Wellington. 

Jamie holds a Ph.D. from the University of Guelph (Plant Physiology); a Masters Certificate from the University of South Australia (Space Studies); an H.B.Sc. from Trent University (Biochemistry); and a B.Ed. from Queen’s University.  Jamie also runs a creative arts company called Mass Productions Canada – an outlet for his creative side.
